Accessible toilet in courtyard
Our shop, which is open at the same times as the Museum, is located in Reception at the main entrance. This area has just been remodelled to accommodate our successful and expanding shop.
We now offer a range of museum souvenirs such as an illustrated guide to the museum (written by our curator), postcards, sheep toys, sheep keyrings and local history books about Newtown. We also sell a fabulous selection of wool and hand-crafted gifts made by local artisans.
We have items to suit all budgets and accept cash or card. Visitors tell us that browsing in our little shop really enhances their visit. So be sure to include time to purchase something really unique in our shop when planning your visit. All proceeds support local artisans and help to keep the museum open.

We are always happy to organise tours for groups. Tours are scheduled at times when the Museum is closed to other visitors. We are able to offer these again, after a break because of Covid.
We are also happy to provide a speaker to local groups, to talk about Hand-loom weaving and Newtown's boom and bust in the 1800s or similar topics.
An information sheet on our tour arrangements is available here
The Textile Museum is keen to work with other organisations in the Newtown area to encourage visitors to linger longer. We are already working with the Newtown Town Council; the Oriel Davies ; the Robert Owen Museum; and WH Smith who also have a museum in their wonderful old shop on High Street. We are working closely with Walking Newtown and Open Newtown too.
There are plenty of other places of interest in nearby towns such as Welshpool and Montgomery as well. More recently we have set up links with the Mid-Wales Arts Centre near Caersws.
We also encourage you to check out Visit Mid-Wales and the Visit Wales websites which have plenty of information too.
Other websites to check out for valuable tourist information are: About Britain, and UK Travel & Tourism, County Sign Post , Shire Magazine and also Welsh Border Life
